George Mitchell Nature Preserve Grand Opening

The dedication and grand opening of the 1,700 acre George Mitchell Nature Preserve was held on the 33rd anniversary of the opening of The Woodlands, October 19, 2007, along with the dedication of The Woodlands Village of Creekside Park. A half-mile nature trail, one-mile down and back, was opened off of Creekside Forest Drive just west of Gosling Road. A two-mile hiking and biking nature trail loop is being created off of Flintridge Drive between Rushaven Drive and Flaconwing Drive. The George Mitchell Nature Preserve, named after the visionary founder of The Woodlands, is a joint effort of The Woodlands Development Co., Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner Ed Chance's Office, The Woodlands Association and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Recreational Trails Grant Program.

Please do not use these natural surface trails immediately after a heavy rain so as to prevent damage to the trail surface. Thank you.
